Private Guitar Lessons for All Ages and Abilities

Whether you’re picking up a guitar for the first time, returning to the instrument after years away, or looking to take your playing to the next level, lessons are tailored to your experience, interests and musical goals.

I offer private guitar lessons in Perth, Scotland and online guitar lessons, with a focus on developing strong technique, musicianship and the confidence.

Lessons can be tailored to what you want to achieve, whether that means:

• Learning your favourite pieces and building a repertoire

• Developing solid technique and good playing habits

• Improving your understanding of music theory and musicianship

• Preparing for practical exams

• Developing your sight-reading and musical interpretation

Your lessons will be structured around your individual goals, while building the underlying skills that will help you continue progressing beyond the lesson room.

Guitar Lessons for Beginners

Beginners will learn the fundamentals step by step, including technique, posture, rhythm, notation and musicianship. We’ll work on music that keeps you motivated while developing the foundations you need to become a confident player.

Guitar Lessons for Experienced Players

If you already play guitar, lessons can focus on whatever is holding you back or where you want to go next.

Whether you want to improve your technique, expand your repertoire, develop your musicianship or prepare for an exam, lessons are designed to challenge you at the right level while giving you practical tools to continue improving independently.

My approach is to develop strong technical foundations and musicianship skills, while giving students increasing ownership over their musical development and repertoire choices.

Experienced and Highly Qualified Guitar Teacher

I have extensive experience teaching students of different ages and abilities, from complete beginners through to advanced players.

I am currently an Associate Instrumental Tutor at the University of St Andrews Music Centre.

I hold the following qualifications:

MA · BMus (Hons) · LRSM · DipABRSM Teaching

I also have a strong record of ABRSM exam preparation: every student I have prepared for an ABRSM practical exam has passed.
